Raised in Saskatchewan, Dick came to Toronto to study at the Ontario College of Art, graduating from the Advertising Illustration program. Work from a growing list of advertising, corporate, and publishing clients in both Canada and the United States afforded the opportunity to maintain various studios in Toronto. By the mid-1970’s Dick & his family moved from Toronto to a new home and studio in the countryside near Guelph, Ontario. Though rudimentary by today’s standards, fax technology and call forwarding soon eliminated the need for the daily commute to a Toronto studio.

Dick currently maintains a home and studio in the Village of Elora near Guelph. Plein air, Landscape and figurative painting are his main artistic interests. Many of the summers months from 2002 to the present have been spent traveling and painting Canada from coast to coast.
